Rebound field notes

What to do after you miss a study session

Missing Tuesday's study block does not mean Wednesday must absorb Tuesday plus everything already planned for Wednesday. First decide what still matters before the deadline.

Triage the work in ten minutes

Write down the task you missed, its due date, and how much focused time remains. Separate the minimum deliverable from optional polish. If an assignment is due tomorrow, finish a submit-ready version before spending time on next week's test. If the missed work was review for a later exam, you can shorten or move it more freely.

Look for real openings, not empty-looking calendar squares. Travel, meals, and sleep are commitments. A plan that depends on staying up two hours later is likely to fail again.

  1. Due tomorrow: do the smallest complete version today and ask your teacher early if the deadline is at risk.
  2. Due later this week: split the missed block across two available days or swap it with lower-priority work.
  3. No longer useful: drop the block deliberately instead of carrying an overdue reminder forever.

Repair one week, not one night

Suppose you missed a 45-minute biology review on Tuesday because practice ran long. A 20-minute recall session on Wednesday and a 25-minute practice set on Friday may fit better than a single 45-minute block on a crowded Thursday. Keep the biology test date visible while you move the work.

If you have missed several sessions, reduce the plan to the next concrete action for each class. Finish the urgent work, then rebuild a schedule from the time you actually have. A backlog is information about capacity, not a command to fill every free minute.

Check the changes before committing

In Rebound, you can ask for a schedule repair when a night falls apart. Review what moved and where it moved before you apply the change. If the replacement time conflicts with a commitment the app does not know about, add that constraint and revise the plan.
